Prices & Levels

This is an open level class from Balboa Intermediate to Advanced with Mel & Jo. You should dance Balboa regularly in weekly classes and/or events. In this class you will improve your dancing skills and learn to feel better on the social dance floor.

• cannot be combined with Slow Bal Basics - Level 1

Anni & Gasper will share their knowledge and concept of dancing Slowbal, origins of the dance, its steps, moves, music and flow. It is a great opportunity for anybody who would like to learn Slowbal. If you already know how to dance Slowbal, then think of this as a great opportunity to refresh memory, and practice and at the same time help new dancers to progress faster.

• No absolute swing dance beginners

• You should have solid basics and experience (classes, workshops and social dancing) in other swing dances like Balboa, Lindy Hop, Blues, West Coast Swing,...

• You are familiar with the concept of Lead & Follow and are open to change partners in the class

• cannot be combined with Friday Special Balboa

You have a solid understanding of Balboa basics and a variety of common variations. You want to refine your technique, expand your vocabulary, and gain more confidence on the social dance floor. You’re comfortable dancing to a wide range of tempos and are ready to explore musicality, personal style, and new moves to make your dancing more dynamic and expressive.

• cannot be combined with Balboa Level 3-4

You already have some experience dancing Slow Bal and feel comfortable with the fundamentals. In this level, you’ll refine your technique, improve your musicality and connection, and expand your repertoire with more challenging patterns to dance with greater confidence and style on the social floor.

• cannot be combined with Slow Bal Level 3

Connection comes naturally to you, and the basics feel effortless. You can lead or follow complex variations with ease and stay confident even at fast tempos or with challenging music. In this level, you’ll focus on refining your style, exploring advanced techniques, and deepening your understanding of rhythm and musical interpretation. Your teachers will inspire you with their own styles and challenge you to push your creative boundaries.

• We want to keep our classes relaxed and enjoyable, so we aim to avoid formal auditions. However, the teachers will observe the level at the beginning of the class. If it turns out that you don’t yet meet the requirements, you’ll be asked to move to the lower level, which takes place at the same time. We trust that you’ll make a realistic choice in advance so we won’t have to make any changes during class — it’s more pleasant for everyone that way.

Please remember: dancing at a higher level isn’t about how long you’ve been dancing or how many moves you know — it’s about the quality of your movement, connection, balance, and musicality.

You have a solid command of the Slow Bal basics and are familiar with a wide range of variations. You dance regularly in classes, at workshops, or festivals. In this level, you’ll deepen your understanding of technique and rhythm, explore playful elements such as counterbalance, dynamic transitions, pivots, and changes of tone in connection. Your teachers will challenge you with new ideas, creative exercises, and concepts that push you outside your comfort zone. You’ll also refine your personal expression by exploring your teachers’ individual styles and interpretations.
